Scott Eckstein is the Owner
and President of James Scott Custom Builders, based in Naperville, Illinois.
Scott began in the remodeling business in 1986 and has owned James Scott Custom
Builders since 1991. Over the past 17 years, his company has received dozens of
awards through its participation in the past six "Cavalcade of Homes." Scott
served as the President of Northern Illinois Home Builders Association (NIHBA)
in 2003 and has twice been named Builder of the Year for NIHBA. In 2006, he was
awarded the HBAI Builder of the Year for the state of Illinois. Scott currently
serves as a National Director, as well as serving on and chairing many
committees at the state and local level.
SENIOR VICE PRESIDENT Terry Ruhland, Plum Creek Builders
Terry Ruhland is the
President of Plum Creek Builders, a design/build custom homebuilder in the
Peoria area. Started in 1987, Plum Creek Builders specializes in unique designs
and personalized service. A member of the Home Builders Association of Greater
Peoria since 1990, Terry has served on the Board of Directors there since 1992.
Ruhland was President of the Peoria local in 1998 and has been active in local
and state governmental affairs issues.
1ST VICE PRESIDENT Craig Wheatley, Parksite
Parksite is a multi-line
distributor of building products servicing the eastern half of the United
States. Craig leads a team of highly trained building product specialists who
educate and train all levels of the building industry within the state of
Illinois. Craig is a member at Northern Illinois HBA and at HBA of Greater Fox
Valley, where he has served on the Board of Directors for four years.
2ND VICE PRESIDENT Linda W. Kolling, LaRue Design
Linda joined LaRue Design,
an award-winning model merchandising firm, as their Vice President of Marketing
in 2005 with over 25 years of industry experience. At LaRue Design, she is
responsible for new business development, marketing communications and graphic
design, client coordination and liaison, and industry association involvement.
Linda is also working with Quik Impressions Group, an award-winning
full-service printing, fulfillment, and mailing house, where she is responsible
for developing new business relationships and strategic alliances with
companies throughout the Midwest. Linda is a member of many Illinois-based home
builder associations. She serves as Associate Vice President for the Home
Builders Association of Greater Fox Valley and as a Director on the Board for
the Sales & Marketing Council of Greater Chicago. Linda was recently
honored by both the HBA of Greater Fox Valley and the Home Builders Association
of Illinois as their 2007 Associate Member of the Year.
Ted Schieler is the
General Manager of Schieler & Rassi. Ted grew up in the trades working
along with his father, Bob Schieler, one of the founding partners of Schieler
& Rassi. Ted brings over 16 years experience in the residential and
commercial building arena. Ted served as President of the Home Builders
Association of Greater Peoria in 2002 and remains active in the local and state
Home Builders Association. Ted maintains his CGB and CSP designation from the
National Association of Home Builders and is a graduate of the University of
Illinois. Ted and his wife, Peggy, reside in Goodfield with their children, BJ
and Mariah.
SECRETARY Michael Nagel, CAPS, CGR - Remodel One, Inc.
Mike Nagel, CGR, CAPS, is the
President of the design/build remodeling firm Remodel One, which he founded in
1985 and is headquartered in Roselle, IL. He is an NAHB national life director,
Build-PAC trustee, and life director of his local home builders association.
Mike was most recently named chairman of the NAHB Remodelors in 2007. He holds
a variety of leadership positions within the remodeling industry and serves on
industry trade show and publication advisory boards.
IMMEDIATE PAST PRESIDENT Sam McCann, GMB, CGR, CAPS - McCann Construction, Inc.
Sam McCann is the Owner and
President of McCann Construction, Inc., based in Carlinville, Illinois. He has
earned the Graduate Master Builder (GMB), Certified Graduate Remodeler (CGR),
and Certified Aging-In-Place Specialist (CAPS) national professional
designations. President McCann began working full-time in construction as a
laborer/carpenter in 1987. In 1993, he established McCann Construction Company
and in 1996 moved to his current offices in Carlinville. In 2004, McCann was
named Builder of the Year by the Springfield Area HBA and was also installed as
their President that same year. McCann was named Builder of the Year by the
Home Builders Association of Illinois in 2005. Over the years he has chaired
several committees for his local association, Springfield Area HBA, as well as
the state association. He has been a National Director since 2003.
STATE REPRESENTATIVE TO NAHB Marsha B. Elliott, Terrestris Development Company
A first generation builder,
Marsha is President/Partner of Terrestris Development Co.; a Chicago-area
building firm (1986) which focuses on residential homebuilding and land
development as well as some commercial development. She is also President/Owner
of MLC Development Co.; a residential homebuilder (1991) that focuses on
acquiring, entitling, and fully developing infill locations. Marsha served as
President of Homebuilders Association of Greater Chicago (HBAGC, 1992) and the
Home Builders Association of Illinois (HBAI, 1998), the only woman to have held
the post in their respective 70 year and 50 year histories. She is a Life
Director of both associations and next year will achieve Senior Life Director
status for NAHB. In 2004/2005, Marsha served a 2-year term as NAHB's National
Vice President for Area 9 (Illinois, Indiana, and Michigan) and was elected
their Moderator for 2005. Marsha was a three time Illinois National
Representative to NAHB (1997, 2000, and 2001) and has chaired several standing
committees such as Resolutions (2006), Public Affairs (2004), and Design
(1999). She was inducted into the HBAGC Sales & Marketing Hall of Fame
(1992), the HBAGC Court of Honor (2001), and received HBAGC's 2004 SAMMY
Lifetime Achievement Award.
